Set of Universal Drill Guides - Femoral Neck - Cat
Description
The femur is the most commonly fractured bone in cats. Femoral fractures usually result from high-velocity trauma such as a road traffic accident or fall from a height. Femoral neck fracture repair is usually achieved through reduction and stabilisation with small ‘Kirschner (K)-wires’ or small diameter screws. Every effort must be made to minimise any vascular damage caused by surgery, as this can result in subsequent aseptic necrosis of the femoral head and/or neck and the development of osteoarthritis of the hip joint.
The guide allows precise guidance of the 2.0mm drill to achieve an anatomically correct treatment. The device can be fixed to bone with repositioning forceps or Kirchner wires with a diameter of 1mm.
Set includes:
- five sizes of guides for each side, based on research of European domestic cat femur morphometry - 106/112/118/124/130mm femur length
- set of bone models intended for presurgical plates contouring - 5 sizes of each side
- sterilization container
- 2 spare guides of each size as a starter-pack (30 guides in total)
By means of providing highest accuracy and surgery safety, guides should be treated as a single usage device (single spare guides available for existing customers). Nonetheless, products can be steam sterilized at 121*C - endurance of minimum 10 cycles.
Drill guide made of biocompatible material certified for blood contact.
